Interface¶
The Textevo panel adapts to its size: dock it vertically or horizontally.

From left to right (or from top to bottom): Add, Remove, Rename, Based on, 2D / 3D, Motion, Copy, Paste, Presets and Settings. Hover a button to see what it does.
The buttons try to do what you mean:
- they work on the selected Textevo effects, or on all the Textevo of the selected text layers when no Textevo is selected,
- they work on all the selected text layers at once,
- when there is nothing to work on, Add, Motion, Paste and applying a preset create a text layer for you; the other buttons tell you what to select.
Always use the Remove and Rename buttons
A Textevo is made of two parts: the Textevo effect and a text animator on the text layer, linked by expressions. Removing or renaming the effect by hand only changes one of the two parts. Use the Remove and Rename buttons of the panel, which handle both.
Add¶
Adds a Textevo to all the selected text layers. If no text layer is selected, Textevo creates one in the active composition.
- Click: keyframes on the Strength from 100 % to 0 %, starting at the current time (an arrival).
- Alt + click: the reversed animation, from 0 % to 100 %, with mirrored easing (an exit).
The keyframes, their easing, the delay and the direction of a new Textevo are set in the settings.
Remove¶
Removes the selected Textevo, or all the Textevo of the selected layers: the effect and its text animator.
If you delete the effect by hand, its text animator stays on the layer with expression errors, and has to be deleted by hand too.
Rename¶
Renames the selected Textevo effect and its text animator together. If you select the text layer and it has only one Textevo, that one is renamed.
If you rename the effect by hand, After Effects updates the expressions but not the name of the text animator: the effect and its animator no longer have the same name in the timeline.
Based on¶
Chooses how the text is broken down: Letters, Letters spaceless, Words or Lines.

Auto adapt the delay: adjusts the delay to the new number of letters, words or lines, to keep about the same total duration. For example, switching from 12 letters to 3 words multiplies the delay by 4.
Match the anchor point grouping: also sets the Anchor Point Grouping of the layer (in the More Options of the text): Character for letters, Word for words, Line for lines. A scale or a rotation then turns each word or line around its own center. Uncheck it to keep your own grouping. Its default state is in the settings.
2D / 3D¶
Switches the 3D per character of the selected text layers on or off. The Textevo animators are rebuilt with the 2D or 3D properties (3D rotations, Z position...), keeping your settings and what you added to them.
Motion¶
Adds an Elastic, a Bounce or an Oscillation to the strength of the Textevo. On a text layer without Textevo, or with no text layer selected, it creates a Textevo with this motion, ready to play. See Motion.
Copy¶
Copies the selected Textevo, or all the Textevo of the layer: the effects with their keyframes, their motion, their "Based on" mode and what you added to their text animators.
Paste¶
Pastes the copied Textevo on all the selected text layers, or on a new text layer if none is selected.
- Click: the keyframes keep their position from the start (in point) of the layer: a keyframe on the first frame of the copied layer lands on the first frame of the target layer.
- Alt + click: the first keyframe lands at the current time.
Presets¶
- Click: opens the presets window.
- Shift + click: saves the Textevo of the selected layer as a preset.
Settings¶
Opens the settings: the default values of a new Textevo, the presets folder...
