Getting started¶
Video tutorial¶
TextEvo Tutorial: The Basics shows the main steps. It was made with Textevo 2: the panel of Textevo 2026 has a few more buttons (like Fx), the basics are the same.
Step by step¶
Your first Textevo animation: letters that rise and fade in, one after the other.
1. Add a Textevo¶
Select a text layer (or nothing: Textevo creates a text layer for you) and click Add in the Textevo panel.
Textevo adds:
- a TextEvo effect on the layer, with all the controls,
- two keyframes on its Strength: 100 % at the current time, 0 % one second later.
Info
The duration, the influence of the keyframes, the delay and the direction of a new Textevo are set in the settings.
2. Choose what moves¶
Open the TextEvo effect in the Effect Controls. By default the Transform values change nothing: set what the letters do at 100 % of strength, for example:
- Transform > Position > Y:
80(the letters come from 80 px lower) - Transform > Opacity:
0(the letters are transparent at the start)
Play the animation: at 100 % the letters are moved down and transparent, at 0 % they are at their normal place. Each letter plays it a little after the previous one.
3. Adjust the rhythm¶
- Delay: the number of frames between two letters. Increase it for a slower cascade.
- Direction: reading direction, reversed, from the center (outward), towards the center (inward), random or from a given index.
- Move the Strength keyframes and change their easing like any keyframes, in the timeline or the graph editor.
4. Letters, words or lines¶
Click Based on in the panel to animate the text letter by letter, letter by letter without the spaces, word by word or line by line.
With "Auto adapt the delay" checked, the delay is adjusted to keep about the same total duration.
5. Animate the exit¶
Hold Alt and click Add: this adds a second Textevo with reversed keyframes (0 % then 100 %), to make the text leave. Set its Transform values (for example Position Y -80 and Opacity 0) and move its keyframes to the end of the layer.
You can stack as many Textevo as you want on the same layer.
