2026.1.0 - October 2026

The Fx button is renamed Motion: in After Effects, "fx" already means the effects.

Textevo tries to do what you mean:

  • Motion on a text layer without Textevo, or with no text layer selected: creates a Textevo with this motion, with keyframes ready for the elastic or the bounce (12 frames apart by default, see the settings).
  • Add and 2D / 3D work on all the selected text layers.
  • Paste creates a text layer when none is selected, like the presets.
  • Rename works when the text layer is selected, if it has only one Textevo.
  • Copy keeps the previous copy when the selected layer has no Textevo.
  • The buttons tell you what to select instead of doing nothing.
  • Presets list: columns showing what each preset is based on and its motion, and filters by Based on and Motion. The buttons keep their size when the window grows.
  • Changing the motion (or 2D / 3D, copying, applying a preset...) keeps all the settings of the selectors added to the text animator: Shape, Units, Based On of a range selector...
  • Delay from markers (Motion window): each letter, word or line starts at a marker of the layer, to sync a text with a voice over. Textevo can add the markers for you, at a reading speed (long words and punctuation take longer) or spread over the layer, and update them after you change the text. The presets add them to the layers without markers. The presets list shows them in the Motion column and filter.
  • Package: the script is now textevo.jsxbin. Remove the older Textevo files from the ScriptUI Panels folder (see Installation).
  • Fixed: the blank panel on macOS, caused by the package of 2026.0.0: the script was installed as a file named Textevo_2026.0.0\Textevo.jsx.
  • Based on can also set the anchor point grouping of the layer (character, word, line), checked by default (see the settings).
  • Dockable presets panel: install textevo presets.jsxbin (a separate download) to dock the presets manager like any After Effects panel. The Presets button opens it, and its list stays up to date.

New

  • Motion button (named Fx in this version): Elastic, Bounce or Oscillation on the strength, with their own controls. Textevo can optimize the keyframes eased on arrival.
  • Presets applied from the start of the text layer, or at the current time with Alt + click.
  • Presets applied on all the selected text layers, or on a new text layer when none is selected.
  • Presets window: search field and rename button, presets sorted by name.
  • Presets keep what you add to the text animator (wiggly selector, fill color...) and can save the other effects of the layer (drop shadow, glow...).
  • The presets saved with an older version are updated (a copy of the originals is kept).
  • Alt + click on Paste: at the current time.
  • Alt + click on Add: reversed keyframes with mirrored easing.
  • New settings window.
  • Dialogs in the After Effects colors.

Fixes

  • Presets landing far after the text layer, or outside of the composition.
  • Paste: the keyframes now follow the start of the target layer.
  • Copy, Based on, 2D / 3D and Remove on layers with the same name, or on a Textevo renamed by hand.
  • 2D / 3D keeps the "Based on" mode.
  • The default direction of the settings is applied by Add.
  • The first launch works when the folder choice is cancelled.
  • No more changes left out of the undo history.
  • Many smaller fixes.
